That Was Some Year

The last issue of DC’s weekly series 52 came out today. This would probably be a good time to read the last, oh, 32 issues or so.

Buying a weekly series of issues really has to rank as a lousy idea on my part. Especially because by all accounts, the story shifted somewhere along the line so that it’s original purpose – helping to explain what happened during the “One Year Later” gap – got tossed to the wayside in the name of helping set up yet another chapter in the ongoing continuity-fest.

Ah well. Plenty of trades out there waiting for me to buy ’em.

  1. Ping from Robn:

    I picked up #52 yesterday.

    I’ve read up to #4.

I’ve never been so far behind in a comic in my life. I’m caught up with several others, but woefully far behind on 52 and the New Avengers. (And I haven’t even started Civil War!)

You should see the stack of “unread” comics in my livingroom. (My husband was glad when we got 52 yesterday though. His response was “Finally, we can start buying comics we like again!” I have no room to judge since I haven’t read it, but I’m guessing it isn’t going to knock me over and impress me!)

Next up: Doktor Sleepless. New Warren Ellis book in July that looks to be phenomenal.

Boy, I remember the days when I would occasionally look forward to an Ellis comic. Either he’s burned out or I am. Or maybe both.
